Welcome to our blog! We are international journalists and wildlife photographers who have enjoyed traveling around the globe together for the forty-plus years we’ve been married. We’ve traveled by planes, trains, cars, RVs, and on foot with backpacks, always in search of new, exciting, and unusual places to visit, hike, explore, and stay. Our travels have taken us to hundreds of hotels in numerous countries, and to accommodations of all types, from tiny motels, lodges, and B&Bs, to Ritz Carltons, Four Seasons, and even European castles. We have hooked up to the utilities of luxurious RV parks and pulled onto the dirt stretches of the forest to camp. We’ve driven the highways and byways of the world, both paved and unpaved. We’ve driven the Alcan Highway and spent two months exploring Alaska, and then years later cruised the Inside Passage in a luxurious cruise ship suite to find the beauty of the islands there. We’ve traveled the world with our children from the time they were born. We traveled as a family as they were growing up, always looking for great kid-friendly adventures and destinations, and then later, after they both grew up into adults and started on their own adventures, we then traveled as a couple.
When we’ve talked with people about our travels over the years, they have often asked about specific details and want to know more about the places we’ve been. A friend of ours recently suggested that we start a blog for sharing our favorite places to go, and offering up tips for safer travel. So, we would like to take you to our best-loved cities, towns, and attractions, some well-known, some more obscure, some luxurious, some more austere, some busy and booming, others quiet and rural, but all a part of this big beautiful world that’s just awaiting your arrival. From Afghanistan to Alaska to Anaheim, we are here to help guide you along the way with information to help make your trips more enjoyable and more interesting. We would like to help you find new destinations and give you tips on how to travel more safely and efficiently. So, strap on your boots and join us, and get ready to start your new adventures…
